The visual storytelling workshops are to be done in every country one time after the implementation of the overall Photo Walk Trainings. Aim of this activity is to make the finalisation of the process and develop photo stories and photo books with the participants and make them ready for the exhibition in each country and internationally.

Preparation

The visual storytelling workshops are implemented targeting the young people with fewer opportunities. This activity is a complementary activity to make the process more detailed oriented and make the participants’ engage in the exhibition process fully while developing more intriguing stories that can move the local population to think.

As previous process was to identify the issues that were present in our communities, in this process, we will not continue with the discussions over the inclusion but dive into the development of the visual stories and the creation of exhibition. To do so, prior to the implementation of the activity, we have to finalise the overall 4 photo-walk trainings and outputs should be developed in a full manner.

  1. Prepare your materials : Be sure that, you have 80 photo stories developed and 20 of them was chosen by the participants through a fair and just process. That can be online voting, that can be through discussion with the participants in each training. It is up to you, how you plan the overall process.
  2. Tailor the content : The participants might know or not know about how to develop a visual story. Thus, you have to adjust the content concerning to the needs of the participants.
  3. Prepare your training room : Before the implementation it is important to have the necessary material that might be needed in the room that you plan to use.

Thus, we have provided KeyNote Presentations, PPTs and PDFs for you to be able to reuse, adjust and prepare for your target groups.

Prepare as well as the participant list that are within the Resource Pack to document for the funding organizations as well as receive confirmation of the usage of materials that are developed by the participants to be used later on by them.

DON’T FORGET :
  • All the methods are implementable with the groups sized 20-30 people. Over 30 people, these methods should be implemented by dividing to group several small groups.
  • Check the sustainability & accessibility list before doing something to ensure that the event is sustainable and accessible for everyone.
  • You have all the materials for the implementation of the activity and you have translated versions of the presentations to tackle with the lack of language ability of your target group.

We have developed the following 2-day training as a guiding material for the activities. During this process, we expect you to follow these guidelines and you can change to fit the needs of your target groups.
